As an Accredited Family Mediator, I am qualified to carry out Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings, otherwise known as MIAMS.
This is the initial meeting that we have before mediation starts and is our opportunity to consider your situation in detail. Like mediation generally, this is completely confidential* and is an essential and important part of the mediation process as it helps me to understand the dynamics of your relationship and situation, and how this might impact upon the joint sessions. It enables me to answer any questions that you have about the process and ensure that you are ready to engage in mediation, to ensure the process is as effective as possible.
You may be referred for a MIAM by your solicitor, as it is also an essential step if you wish to make any application to the Courts for a financial order or one regarding children's arrangements.
MIAMs are usually carried out remotely.
